BIOGRAPHY

B I O G R A P H Y

X. Darvi began her artistic journey in 2013 after discovering a passion for acrylic painting through a course at Green River Community College. She pursued a self-guided path of exploration and growth, developing a portrait-focused style that celebrates the beauty, strength, and resilience of Black women.

In 2021, she was named Artist-in-Residence for the Immersive Van Gogh exhibition in Las Vegas, marking a significant milestone in her public art career. By 2023, her mural work gained recognition when NBC 3 Las Vegas covered the City of Las Vegas’s unveiling of her mural in the historic West Side.

In 2024, she received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition, further affirming her impact on the local arts community. The following year, her vision was featured in The Mother’s Roots: An Afrodiasporic Vision exhibit at Vegas PBS, and she was honored with an Honorable Mention by the Clark County Public Arts Office.

Her installations, including multiple utility box murals in downtown Las Vegas, continue to shape the city's visual identity while telling stories that empower and uplift. Each project reflects her commitment to community, storytelling, and creative transformation, an ongoing journey that remains deeply rooted in purpose and cultural celebration.

STATEMENT

S T A T E M E N T

X. Darvi approaches painting as a personal diary, each work reflecting her emotional and spiritual state in a given moment. She creates from a mindful, reflective space, often drawing inspiration through meditation. Her portraits focus on Black women, honoring them as multifaceted, powerful, and deeply worthy of being seen. Knowing that her own journey of growth is shared by others, she paints with the hope that women who encounter her work feel recognized and understood.

As her practice has evolved, Darvi has adopted an intuitive and spiritual approach to her craft. She creates from a divine space within, guided by instinct as she moves fluidly between acrylic paint, clay, and even humble materials like construction paper. Her work balances rawness with transcendence, grounding her visions while allowing them to expand into something sacred.

Her art stands as both a personal offering and a communal one, honoring the unseen aspects of her identity while inviting others to connect with that same sacred energy.

By centering stories of resilience, strength, and beauty, she offers representation and connection to those who may not always see themselves reflected in the world around them. Each new piece builds upon the diary she began more than a decade ago, weaving together her inner journey with the collective experience of her community.
